Updating Your Sash Windows

Wooden sash windows add an undeniably classic and attractive look to any building. However, many older timber sash windows can be rather draughty and fairly poor at keeping out external noise. Therefore, for many it can be a hard choice between choosing to update their windows thereby losing the beautiful and ornate look that many original sash windows have, or choosing to live with the poor insulation and sound properties they offer.

Yet, so long as you find the right company, it can simply be a case of getting the best of both worlds. Whilst modern timber sash windows might often look less attractive than their traditional counterparts, many companies will offer a facility to reproduce the same designs, or alternative classic designs, whilst in the process offering all the modern benefits.

But will the money spent really be worth it? The answer is almost certainly yes. Modern windows have to meet quite stringent quality levels and therefore you will receive toughened glass to improve security, double glazing and draught sealing to improve energy efficiency and even heat reflective glass to keep the warmth in during the winter and the heat out during the summer. On top of this there are also likely to be options to have ultra violet rays being blocked which is beneficial for us as well as keeping our furniture in great condition rather than finding it fading from the sun’s rays.

Wooden sash windows may well be the best choice of windows for your home, but updating them doesn’t mean you have to lose what makes them so special. Instead it will simply mean you have the great look you want, a quieter and more colourful home and an easy way of ensuring your house stays the temperature you want it, no matter what the season.
