Efergy also now allows you to measure and then better manage your energy usage in the shower. Of course this device serves the dual purpose of gauging your water usage, as well as the energy that goes into heating it, whether your heater uses gas or electricity. It's cheap (around $10 US) and simply plugs on your shower wall by way of a simple suction cup.
With it you can easily calculate precisely how much water you typically use in the shower and then program that in. Then simply switch it on when you begin each shower. With a quick glance at the screen it will tell you how much you have used and how much you have left and then it will sound an alarm when you've reached your limit.

The e2 is basically a newer upgraded version of the original wireless whole house Efergy Energy Monitor. Hence; it does all that it did as well as a good handful of other amazing functions. It also comes with its own software for computer tracking, so you don't have to download anything off your computer.
For me its most amazing function is “kilowatt to carbon conversions”. This allows you to accurately track your homes actual “carbon footprint”. Also the software allows for far more graphic monitor displays. If that isn't enough for you, then use it to join an online energy saving information sharing community and use the software to share energy usage information with others.
