|
"Forgetting Sarah Marshall" is a Dreamy Comedy film directed by Nicholas Stoller which stars Jason Segel from the hit TV show "How I Met Your Mother". Released in 2008, the DVD edition of the film received both positive and negative reviews from many DVD movie reviews both online and print. Online movie review website "Rotten Tomatoes" reported that 84% of the critics who have watched the unrated version on DVD gave Stoller's film positive reviews. Based on the website's 165 posted reviews, Forgetting Sarah Marshall was labelled as Stoller's right fusion of romance and raunchy situations. Other movie review websites such as "Metacritic" reported that the film's DVD edition had 67% positive reviews which were based from their 37 posted reviews.
According to Matt Pais of the Chicago Tribune, Forgetting Sarah Marshall is a must-watched movie on DVD for people who are experiencing "rebound" type of relationships with their cohorts. Movie writer Richard Roeper praised the movie for it's extreme funny situations between the characters especially Segel and his co-star, Ace British comedian Russell Brand. The Entertainment Weekly praised Segel's acting while The San Francisco Chronicle labeled the film as Segel's breakthrough debut film. Stoller delivered a highly-entertaining raunchy humor and romantic situations throughout his film. Majority of DVD movie reviews compared Forgetting Sarah Marshall to some of Judd Appatow films such as "The 40-Year Old Virgin", "Superbad" and "Knocked Up" in terms of raunchy content or conceptualization. The film's DVD edition comes in a "Collector's Edition" package . The Collector's Edition of Forgetting Sarah Marshall includes the "Theatrical" and "Unrated" version. The film's unrated version features additional 6 to 10 minutes of scenes which were not shown in theatres due to unfortunate content. The DVD also features six deleted scenes which were no longer included in the film's post production.
"The Ugly Truth" is a Romantic Comedy film that was released in July 2009. The film stars Katherine Heigl and Gerald Butler portraying the roles of total opposite individuals from different viewpoints of life. Heigl is an intimidating television producer who was assigned to produce a program entitled "The Ugly Truth" which is hosted by a rugged and annoying relationship adviser played by Butler. Throughout the film, both characters will discover each other's professional and personal differences by teaching each other lessons on understanding men and women about sex and relationships. Many DVD movie reviews gave the film negative reviews for its unconvincing storyline and delusion of how the movie entertained the audience in general. The film's DVD edition is said to be reminiscent of Appatow's sexual dialogues and common raunchy situations which were seen in many of his previous films. The DVD edition of The Ugly Truth also comes in both "Theatrical" and "Unrated" version. The film's unrated version however, was not released publicly. The theatrical version was released two months after the film was shown in theatres worldwide. |
