Roller Skate Tricks

Roller skating is a fantastic way to lose weight, tone muscles and increase your balance and co-ordination. But if you’re looking for a way to spice up your workout, then there are some simple tricks that can put the fun back into your routine and give you an even better workout at the same time. Whether you use inline skates or roller skates, there are plenty of ways to do something different when you hit the streets. Here are a couple to get you started:

Skating Backwards: Roll backwards and move the feet apart then back together. Do not lift the roller skates off the ground. Once you have mastered this, try keeping one foot steady while the other moves in and out, then try this with the opposite foot. Finally, try doing this alternately, so that as one foot goes out, the other stays straight, and then once this straightens, the other foot now moves out. After this you should be able to start moving the feet backwards together.

Skating Crossovers – If you are a competent skater then this one should be easy. Start off skating slowly. Start to turn left and as you do so, move your right foot over your left one. Push with your right foot until your left foot is out in front again, ensuring not to make contact with it. Repeat this the opposite way. Then try going in circles and change direction every now and again. With this you should have mastered it.

If you find these easy enough, then there are lots more ways of mixing up your roller skating exercise regime. You can move on to jumps and spins, and maybe even using an obstacle or two in time, but ensure you are ready and ensure you have the appropriate pads to stay safe.
