What is Hpv Virus and How Should You Deal with It?

The abbreviation HPV stands for human papilloma virus. Having said that, it would be good to first note that "HPV virus" is actually a redundant term. From now on, let us start calling it just HPV.

Now, onto the more serious part of the topic.

In the United States, HPV is one of the most sexually transmitted diseases. It is actually composed │ made of a family of viruses which cause warts in the genital and anal areas. Both men and women can be infected by this so stop thinking that only females should concern themselves when they see warts in their genital area.

More often, genital warts are treatable either by medications or surgery. The more serious ones or those which did not receive medical care may escalate into something more serious such as cervical cancer in women and anal cancer in gay men. The disease may be detected early by going through routine pap tests or rectal exams. Just like any other diseases, the earlier HPV infection is detected, the better.

Although genital warts are usual │ common symptoms of HPV infection, it would be wise to know that not everyone infected by the disease develop warts. In addition, even visible warts can be harder to see in female patients than in males. Due to this, it would help to always be cautious about the infection. You can get infected by HPV without knowing it. In fact, the infection can lay for years. So time and again, the best way to get rid of hpv is really by going through routine check ups.

Now, taking into account that the infection is manifested by warts, remember that warts can appear │ show not only in the genital area but on the scrotum and the anus as well. This is why you should bear in mind that using condoms is not really a fool-proof way of protecting yourself or your partner from the disease. However, this does not mean that you should give up using condoms altogether. Remember that condoms are still an protection from different sexually transmitted diseases.

Another way to protect │ shield yourself from getting infected by HPV is by getting vaccinated. The vaccine can protect you from contracting four HPV strains: HPV 16 and 18 which are associated to cervical, vaginal, vulvar, anal, and penile cancer; and HPV 6 and 11 which are linked to 90% of all the genital warts cases in the country.

Although the vaccine to protect yourself from getting infected by HPV is already available, you should not take the disease . Remember that it is always good to be wise in everything you do especially when it concerns │ involves your health. Sure, it would be good to get an hpv vaccine, but you should not make this as an excuse for you to do unprotected sex or ignore your partner's possible infection of the disease. Always be vigilant │ careful and .
