Can you Treat Type 2 Diabetes Without Medication

Diabetes affects millions of people. Of these millions the majority have been diagnosed with type 2 Diabetes. It can affect the young and old alike, but most often this particular form of the disease hits people in their forties. They usually will have family history of the disease in their bloodline. When it hits,

While it is a very treatable disease, it can be as life threatening as Type 1 if left unattended. In the worse cases, it can cause blindness, heart disease and problems with the extremities, like hands and feet, which can lead to amputation. However treatment is very simple and when caught in the early stages, people who have developed the disease can live very normal productive lives.

There are instances when a medication that a person is taking for something else can trigger it. Other stress factors include obesity and lack of a regular exercise program. Due to these being life choices, there is a possibility that it can be kept under control by means other than medication.

Since these traits are something that can be changed, if another medication is not the culprit, a change in lifestyle can help to control it. Start moving, even if it is just a few minutes a day, doing more exercise is the best place to start. When someone does not get the exercise needed by their body, it can start to shut down. This can cause the functions of the the entire process to begin to stop working like they should. Then the insulin the body naturally creates can not be absorbed as it should.

Obesity is a huge risk factor for diabetes. If there is too much fat on the body, it can cause it to go into a diabetic reaction. Often, by losing weight it can readjust the imbalance and get the body back to working, as it should.

Maintaining a healthy diet will help with both the treatment of the disease, as well as shedding the necessary weight. Eating a diet high in lean meats will provide a good source of protein. Including fibrous vegetables and fruits will also help in keeping one full and maintain a good weight. A good diet seems to have some affect on treating or reversing the symptoms of diabetes. Keeping the diet well balanced and avoiding overloads of simple sugars as well as carbohydrates will keep both the body fat and blood sugars low.

Care should be taken when trying to combat type 2 diabetes with non-medicinal measures. While they do seem to help fight the disease, regular visits to a doctor should be included. Monitoring whether the non-medical approach is working or not, will dictate what approach will need to be continued. Risking ones health with the absence of medication is never the best approach.
