The building, which is described by the Express & Star as "one of the Midlands' most prestigious houses", was advertised at more than £6 million.According to the publication, it is only the second time in its nearly two-century history that it has been put up for sale.
As well as its characterful fireplaces, the 12-bedroom abode features selling points such as a swimming pool, tennis court and wooded garden.It also contains six bathrooms and is surrounded by 360 acres of freehold land, including 96 acres of woodland.
There is also a special woodland walk that features flowers such as daffodils and bluebells.
Its owners, Simon and Mary Kenyon-Slaney, revealed they have loved living in the residence and are extremely sad to be leaving it. The pair have occupied the home for 42 years but decided it was the right time to downsize. They also noted they want a young family to take it over and provide it with a new lease of life by developing and exploiting it.
Mr Kenyon-Slaney, who is now aged 79, said: "It's the end of a long chapter for us and, hopefully, the beginning of a good one for somebody else."
Some of the most notable features of the interior, apart from the marble fireplaces, are the ornate plaster cornicing and silk wall coverings.
