Romantic wedding venue features special fireplaces

These days, there are many fireplaces available for people to purchase. However, one type of offering that remains a big hit among consumers is that of marble fireplaces. They seem to have a timeless appeal. With this in mind, a wedding venue has been advertising the fact that it features such fireplaces. Fasque House at Fettercairn, which is a historic house in the north-east of Scotland, has been refurbished. Over the last eight months, managing director of the building Douglas Dick-Reid and his wife Heather have transformed the former family home into a wedding venue and conference centre. The building has an interesting history, having served as the family abode of former prime minister William Gladstone, who had a long and illustrious career in parliament, retiring eventually at the age of 84. Last month, a wedding fair was held at the venue and firms ranging from florists to photographers were present to try to gain custom from soon-to-be-wed couples. As well as the marble fireplaces, the building features Corinthian columns, arched doorways, decorative stucco cornices and ceiling roses and there are cast iron gates outside. Meanwhile, people who tie the knot at the home should be able to get impressive photographs in the garden, which contains rolling lawns, peacocks, white deer and many other creatures. Inside there are a number of reception rooms, including a self-contained four-bedroom bridal suite. Weddings and civil ceremonies can take place at the location and those tying the knot can do so in the entrance hall, which boasts a backdrop of an elegant double cantilevered staircase which is naturally lit by a large ornate cupola. According to those now running the mansion, Fasque House is one of Scotland's most prestigious private stately homes. Set out over three floors, it features around 33,500 square feet of space.
