Laptop with dual screens launched by Acer

Laptop screens have developed considerably over the years and they are now available in a considerable variety of shapes, sizes and qualities. Indeed, is also now possible to order replacement laptop screens when such items are damaged.

One company is taking its use of laptop screens to a new level. According to a report on ABS CBN News, Acer has launched an offering that features two such items. The Iconia-484G64ns has double 14-inch multi-touch LCD screens. This means consumers who use them can watch multiple videos simultaneously or view web pages without having to scroll up or down. Meanwhile, the additional monitor can function as a virtual keyboard.

The computer is powered by the Windows 7 operating system and it is targeted predominantly at content consumption. It runs on an Intel Core i5-480M processor and it features a hard drive of 640 gigabytes. Meanwhile, the device has a 10.1-inch multi-touch LCD screen and a camera. It also comes with Bluetooth, LAN and Wi-Fi capabilities.

Commenting on the development, managing director for Microsoft Philippines John Bessey said: "We are very excited to showcase the innovations that Acer is launching on top of the Windows platform."

According to ABS CBN News, with a weight of 2.8 kilograms, the touchbook "looks and feels like the usual heavy laptop" and it is "priced like one too". The news source went on to suggest that Acer has acknowledged the device might be a little expensive for some people, adding that it might come up with a smaller, lighter and cheaper version at some point in the future.

No doubt it will only be a matter of time before replacement laptop screens for the products are being ordered online and in retail outlets.

Founded in 1976, Acer has operations around the world and it employs a total of approximately 8,000 people.
