Wealthy Affiliate: The Online Varsity
|
Sifting through the rather vast expanses of the Wealthy Affiliate site, I begin to appreciate the logic behind calling it an online 'university', as it is often referred to. My visit to the site was actually on a tight schedule, with the only intention of taking a quick look in order to record my observations for a review. This kind of flying visit actually works for most sites of this kind. However, there was this sincerity about Wealthy Affiliate, the way the content was laid out perhaps, their approach to promoting the service maybe, or just the sheer volume of information it contains – but whatever it was, it made me spend a lot more time looking at it than I had planned to.
First impressions are lasting impressions. Wealthy Affiliate seems to know this. With the promoters Kyle & Carson backing the site, you could say that Wealthy Affiliate has grown into yet another accomplishment to their credit. It is a convincing, competent training site promoted by a couple of smart people with nearly a decade of experience in online marketing.
When the duo ventured into online marketing, they started with little money in their kitty and lesser experience. Their journey was fraught with challenges and obstacles. The fact that the duo has arrived where it has today, fording great adversity and challenge is testimony to the steadfastness and sense of purpose of Kyle & Carson. No surprise that these virtues are embodied in their latest venture – Wealthy Affiliate. The point here is that the promoter profile is many a time as important as the product quality itself.
The overall look, feel and experience is good enough to validate one's faith in the site, and the content quality as well as information architecture is impressive. With the quantum of material, facilities and tools at your disposal, sorting it out to create a clutter-free and easy navigational interface is no mean task.
Yet another feature that caught my attention was the openness to discussion and consultation offered by the promoters themselves. It beats me as to how they actually manage it with a huge membership base, but I assume they have a neat system in place to accomplish the task. At any rate, the spirit of openness and camaraderie is worthy of appreciation.
I give my thumbs up to the site. It is in a different league altogether, compared to its peers. When you realize what's on offer, the $40 a month membership suddenly seems to look so much cheaper. |
