When IAS Aspirants Look Confused As To The Sure Way Of Success

If civil services in India are the toughest exams in the circuit, they are also the most prestigious and high ranked jobs that are possible in Indian government. This fact being a sure thing, has a contrast in the fact that many students fail with so much of study and preparations while some actually get through in the first attempt. The competition to succeed in the civil services exams is tough as it could be.

The process is rightly a long one, as people are required to appear in the preliminary exams for the first part and after clearing it, they have to appear in the mains exam and thereafter in the interview. Each round is tougher than the last and the rounds are gapped at long intervals. If the preliminary round of written exam is held in month of June – July, then the mains are held in December the same year while by the time the interview starts, it is already April.

If the duration of the exam as stated is long, then the preparations that is required to pass through each step requires longer. But all of the trouble pays off if the results come up good. This is not a very easy task as some 1000 people are selected in the first round which trickles down to 400 candidates for the final clearance. Lakhs of students from India from various disciplines of science, arts and commerce, appear in the IAS test. A handful of them pass which is actually a very small percentage in comparison to the total number of students that appear in the exams.

Due to the high failure rate, students preparing for the civil services exams are troubled. They are always in search of a right way of cracking through the civil services. Without raking their brains, people should realize that the civil services exams are modulated in such a way that they test the variety of aspects in an individual. It is not a matter of any formulae or equation nor is it about things that are immediate. The test is about the long term knowledge of the candidate and how one presents himself or herself to make them fit for the job.

The interview is quite tough with panel of members from the respected areas of society with lots of experience. For facing all these steps, people should remember one thing that there is no short cut to success in the IAS exams. One has to take in the rigor of the situation and give 100% to the preparation. Extensive preparations, as is possible, have to be put in. information and knowledge from every possible source on the subjects chosen are to be collected. Good command over writing and speaking English is a must and is to be developed gradually.

One should always try to focus on the subjects which they think is possible to cover and about which they have already studied in the intermediate or graduation. The exam is taken by students who have usually passed their masters degree or at best their bachelor’s degree. To have knowledge of this extent is not possible in a month or two. Long years of preparations targeting the civil services exam, is to be done. Regular study and dedicated efforts is the only key to the success. Looking at any other alternative is only a waste of time.
