Arts Colleges In India Offers Students A Wide Range Of Subjects To Pursue Higher Education

The arts stream has been in favor since ages, may be from the time the college education was formulated. Many students have taken admissions into the colleges that offer arts subjects which are quite varied. They have passed the bachelor degree courses, and gone on to do masters courses of which many have also done their doctorate degrees. Since, arts stream has long been associated with academics, this has been a chosen stream by many students.
The favoritism for arts stream has been among students in particular and public in general, because of the wide range of subjects that can be pursued and bright careers made out of it. Moreover, there is an option of choosing an honors subject during the graduation course which can be later on pursued as the main subject of concern in the higher degree institutes. This is particularly of benefit for the students who have taken admissions into the arts colleges in India. It allows them to pick up a subject from a vast array, keeping in mind their interest in first instance and the prospects of higher studies in the same subject. Though one can keep a subject from the arts stream in the bachelor’s course as a hons subject, they can always change it.
Though this is something that is seen with the arts students, the main point of advantage is the large number of courses that can be studied starting from history, geography to rarely treaded paths of foreign language or even performing arts. It is the beauty of the choice of subjects that has attracted many students to pick up colleges based on the subjects that are on offer.
Students willing to pursue arts in their graduation are required to sit in the entrance exams to decide their choice of college depending on their ranks. This means, that the best ranked students in the entrance exam of a particular college can only get into the college classrooms. Again, depending on their ranks, the subject choice for honors is done making it a tough call to get the subject of one’s choice. This trend of conducting entrance exams is prevalent in the arts colleges in Delhi where many students are opting for such courses.
With a tough competition among the students, they can get into the colleges such as Delhi College of Arts and Commerce, Department of Germanic and French studies, Apeejay Institute of Design, Aditi Mahavidyala, etc. The tough competition among students to secure a seat in some of the famous colleges in Mumbai has also raised the bar a bit higher making it possible for the higher ranked students to gain a seat. The arts colleges in Mumbai that have a competition for admissions are the DG Ruparel College, K J Somaiya College of Arts and Commerce, Jai Hind College, K C College, Mithibai College, to name a few.
In these and many more colleges, there subjects of philosophy, languages, fine arts, economics, law, business economics, education, etc can be pursued by the students besides the usual history, geography and such subjects. The range is quite wide and lets the students a freedom to pursue a course that is close to their heart and has their attention with one eye on the future prospects. The flexibility of such education system where the best can survive and rise up has made the arts stream quite popular among today’s youth.
