How to Write E-mail Subject Lines that Get Opened


E-mail marketing can do a lot of good for your bottom line but you need to work harder at some things (like subject lines) than others. Keep reading to learn how to craft high converting e-mail subject lines for your campaigns.

The first important rule of writing a subject line that gets a high response is to personalize it. This is something that is easy to set-up in your autoresponders, and there's really no excuse for not doing it. There is a little magic that happens when a reader sees their name in a subject line. We won't mislead you, here, you are vying for the attention of your reader right alongside lots of other marketers. Among other things it helps to distinguish yourself from people like spammers and other legitimate marketers. Just be informal and address people by their first name only in the subject line. Overdoing this may kill the response that you get, which is why you need to maintain a balance between the personalization that you do and the overall feel of the email.
