The HTC Incredible S Vs The Great HTC Sensation

The release of the S series of handsets from HTC saw us introduced to the phone named the Incredible. This handset boased everything that was good about the brand in one handset, great styling, superb features and an excellent user experience. It quickly established itself as the head of the HTC family however its reign was short lived. The recent announcement of the new Sensation model has seen its predecessor relegated. With both models offering different specification, which one of these heavyweights may be the phone for you?

Taking a look at the styling of the phones and it is fair to say that both are pleasing on the eye but in very different ways. The Incredible S offers and industrial looking design with the back panel offering a series of ridges and dips that outline some of the internal characteristics of the model. This is certainly different from the wealth of glossy, flat back panels that are sported on many models and the colouring also appeals as it is entirely matte black, giving the phone and understated but very appealing finish. The sensation is a different kettle of fish. The unibody back panel takes on a high end metallic finish, bit rather than stop there, HTC have made it comprise of three different shades of silver. It is hard to say which is more appealing and they certainly will appeal to different kinds of people. Looking at the camera aspects of the phones and there is one winner. The newer model sports an 8 mega pixel snapper which is the same as the one found on the Incredible S, but the video facilities differ. With full HD video capture at 1080P resolution and 30 frames per second, the Sensation is one of the very best phone available in this area, its younger brother still keeps a good account of itself by offering 720P HD however.

Both of these impressive models offer screens that show great clarity and colour reproduction, with the HTC Sensation once again stealing the show thanks to its massive 560 x 940 resolution and compared to 480 x 800 on the Incredible. A nice element to the higher quality screen is that it also utilises a new contour display. This means rather than using a flat panel the screen is curved which not only offers benefits when it comes to inputting text, but also makes the devices sit a little more comfortably against your face during a call. The higher specification model also offers a bigger screen at 4.3 inches rather than 4 but this however may play into the Incredibles hands. Although its display is smaller, it still eclipses many smartphones and may appeal to those looking for a phone that is a touch smaller than the 126.1mm x 65.4mm x 11.3mm Sensation.

Although the new model steals the limelight, the Incredible S is still a worthy phone with many excellent features and will appeal to those looking for perhaps a more discreet and stylish model. The sensation however is the flagship model, and if you are buying on specification alone, you will not find a better handset.
