Solar Electricity - Eco-friendly Way of Cleaning Your Solar Panel

Before you start your solar panel cleaning venture, be sure to review the manual of your panels first as each manufacturing company instruct different cleaning solutions. Some solar panels are highly sensitive to chemicals, while other panels are built with incredibly fragile parts. So it is important to review that manual first before you begin.

If the manual says your panel models are standard design then cleaning it with soap and water won't cause you any damages. You can clean it the way you clean your regular windows. Standard designed panels also feature well-hidden electrical components that are situated behind its plastic and glass shielding, so you're guaranteed that all the water and soap that will come in contact with the panel will only touch the external part of it. Finally, make sure your panels are free from any cracks and/or exposed wirings as this is very dangerous.

WARNING: Discontinue if exposed wirings and cracks are present. Solar electricity can be life threatening too, especially when it touches the skin so avoid contacts with these wirings.

The things you'll basically need:
- Full Bucket of Water
- Soft clean cloth that won't scratch the panels
- Towel or Soft Sponge
- Detergent/Cleaning Soap

Another possible solution to clean your solar panel is by mixing the following ingredients below. Mixing together all of the following can also give you a very good solar panel cleaner guaranteed to be toxic-free and environmental friendly.
- All-purpose window cleaner
- 1/4 c. vinegar
- 1/2 tsp. detergent/liquid soap
- 2 c. of water place inside a spray bottle

Optionally, you can also purchase green cleaning supplies that are often available in various varieties. These supplies are most often employed in glasses and are known to be eco-friendly.

Now for the cleaning part, if you're going to use the sponge, soap, and water method in cleaning the panels then make sure to remove all the visible physical dirt present on its surface. Apply little pressure as much as possible. When you're cleaning the cell surface, scrubbing should be gentle to prevent any solar electricity disruption inside. Avoid cleaning delicate areas that the manual deems as fragile or sensitive. The center of your general cleaning should only be around the panels, overdoing it could jeopardize the normal functioning of the system. After cleaning away all its dirt, leave the panels to dry. Do not use right away. After it has dried, wipe the panels using a clean cloth or towel one more time to remove the remaining silt present in it, and prevent the appearance of water spot. And that's all it, you can now turn the solar electricity back again.

If your solar panels are located in a challenging place like a roof or somewhere high, the best way of cleaning it is by using automatic cleaning systems which are very popular today. These automatic systems function like windshield wipers that brush and clean away the dust on the panels. They're a little costly to purchase, but buying them is definitely going to be worth your money in cleaning challenging solar panels.
