A Look At Some Of The Lesser Known Features Of The Impressive Desire HD From HTC

When speaking about a new mobile phone, it is all to easy to focus on the obvious aspects such as the size of the screen, the speed of the processor or the battery life. All to often a handset has a host of quirky, excellent features that never even get looked at. So when looking over the HTC Desire HD, I have decided to steer clear of the obvious, and have opted to highlight some over great features that may benefit you in your everyday life.

Being a handset running on the Google Android operating system, the phone benefits from some excellent features developed by Google themselves. In everyday life they are more commonly associated with search engines and maps, both of which are featured on this phone, enhancing the web and navigation side of affairs. There are lesser known features however which although not practical on a home pc or laptop, work like a dream on a mobile device. Take Google Goggles for example, this system enable you to point your handset at a location or tourist spot and take a photo, the device will then search the web via a mobile internet connection or WiFi and bring up all search results related to the image. This applications for this feature are obvious, and it could prove an invaluable tool if you are travelling or visiting a new town or city. Another great tool based on a similar theme is the quick lookup option, which enables you to choose a word or phrase from any item you are viewing, be it an e mail or web page, and instantly search the term. Little features such as these I dare say go unused on numerous handsets, yet they really do improve the day to day functionality on the phone.

The HTC Desire HD has access to some amazing application downloads. These cover a wide variety of uses, from high quality games that fully utilise the large screen display, to some excellent audio options. In this category there are a couple of names that have already become a household name. Shazam is the audio equivalent of Google Goggles, and allows you to identify the name and artist of a song that is playing by simply accessing the application and letting the handset hear a few seconds of the track, a great feature if you are in a bar or club and hear a song you like. Spotify is also available, and this app gives you access to millions of tunes, and enables you to share your favourites tracks and play lists with friends.

These are just a few of the hundreds of excellent, but lesser known features of the HTC Desire HD, a smartphone for a new generation of phone users with great features and unparalleled functionality.
