Air Cleaner – Cleaner Maintenance Tips

Indoor pollutants are not only unwanted in many houses, but it also gives a hazardous threat to health. Air pollution is actually categorized as one of the five leading environmental risks that are dangerous to health. To improve the breathable air condition of your home, and to keep your family protected from these unwanted, hazardous particles, you can opt for air cleaners or purifiers that help remove pollutants and dusty particles in the air. Air purifiers are integrated filtering device that functions like a normal water filter. The only difference is it filters the air and not the water. Cleaners are available in wide range of variety in whole-home system and portable filtering units.

Air cleaners are mechanical devices that have been tagged with a very important job description – to keep the air fully cleanse free from all major radicals and particles that include dust, pollen, fungi, allergen, smoke, odor, and animal dander. Make no mistake about its capability though because cleaners can definitely deliver quality air to homes, except of course when it becomes hampered or severely impaired due to improper maintenance. Like any regular home devices, cleaner or air purifiers also need adequate cleaning and maintenance, most especially since the device deals with dust and particles. If not taken care properly, the purifying device could become useless or could incur severe hampering.

Keeping your air purifier well-maintained will only require your small time and not so much effort; in exchange you will enjoy better air quality wherever you place the purifier. Tips on how to properly maintain air cleaners inside your home:

- Vacuum Dust
You don't really have to regularly clean as in vacuum dust your air cleaner daily. A periodic schedule can still work perfectly for your purifier. Air cleaners are engineered to be tough and resistant to dirt; however, too much of it can still suffocate the device. When you perform a simple vacuum dust, pay close attention to the external grills and panels of your air cleaner. This is the part where particles mostly settle in.

- Filter Fit
It is very important that you follow your instruction manual regarding the type of filter to use for your cleaner. Change the filter according to the manuals recommendation as the life span of filters varies differently from product to product. HEPA filter for example are known to have 12 months of life span. Carbon filter on the other hand require a 4-6 months immediate changing. Usually, the more dust, allergens and air pollutants present in your place the faster you air filter's life expectancy will drop down.

- Washable Filters
If you bought a washable filter for the air purifier, then clean it according to its recommended cleaning interval. You can wash a washable filter more thoroughly by using soap and water. Before you insert it back to the cleaner, however, make sure it's completely dry.

- Backup Filter Replacement
When you ask for an order replacement for your filters, it's recommended that you order an extra pair as backup. This will give you an extra filter when a change is needed.
