Many people are faced with serious mobility problems, making it difficult for them to gain access to various areas in their own homes. Such mobility issues can also prohibit individuals from leading an active life, moving freely throughout public and commercial buildings. But today’s lift technology, with various types of mobility lifts, can help people with limited mobility to maintain an active and healthy lifestyle, and allow them the ability to better interact with the people and places in their environment.

Whether a person’s lack of mobility is the result of aging, illness or injury, such mobility issues can lead to significant frustration and dissatisfaction with life – mobile lifts can help improve quality of life. They can also help businesses to increase their customer flow by allowing all potential customers to move freely around their stores and showrooms.

There are a variety of lift types available, depending upon individuals needs and environments. The most common lift types are vertical platform lifts, inclined platform lifts, and chair lifts.

The vertical platform lift is also often called a wheelchair lift. These vertical lifts can be used in the home, as an effective alternative to an elevator. They can also be installed in commercial buildings, allowing all customers, even those with limited mobility, to move throughout the shop. Vertical wheelchair lifts are more visually attractive than wooden wheelchair ramps, and much more cost effective than a full elevator. Such platform lifts can be installed inside or outside a building, offering a variety of ways to incorporate them seamlessly into the existing architecture of the structure. These types of lifts make a home, and small business, more friendly and accessible to those with limited mobility.

While the vertical lift goes straight up and down, like an elevator, an inclined lift is meant to go up graduate inclines, such as stairways. The inclined lift comes in two types: the chairlift and the platform lift. The inclined chair stairway lift is basically a seat that attaches to a track on the wall, carrying a single passenger up a stairway. The inclined platform lift is designed to accommodate a wheelchair, and can be installed on stairs indoors or out. Whether platform lift or chair lift, inclined lifts can be a great addition to the home for those with limited mobility. Such lifts are economical and practical - a great solution for people with accessibility issues who want to maintain the ability to move around their multi-level home, and who do not want to face the effort and expense of moving.

Disabled lifts have an important place in the home, for those with mobility issues. They can also work very well in public and commercial buildings, including stores and other businesses. In commercial and public applications, these DDA lifts help mobility impaired visitors to enter and move around buildings in complete compliance with the Disability Discrimination Act, and other related building regulations. They look good, are cost effective, and enhance the lives of mobility challenged individuals. In the home, the disability lift can mean the difference between a person with limited ability being stuck in a chair alone, or being able to move freely around their home, interacting as a full member of the family.
