Welders Masks

Choosing Welders Masks

Welders masks are a vital facet of health and safety and you should choose the most appropriate masks depending on the type of materials that you are welding and the circumstances in which you will be operating the masks. If you know exactly how you will be using the mask every time you wear it then it will make purchasing the right mask a lot easier. Standard masks or helmets should prove more than sufficient if you only undertake light welding but if you do more than this then you will need to look at different models of helmet.

Manual Helmets

The shade control on the welders helmet or welders mask is important. The standard or basic variety requires that you manually alter the shade or tin of the mask. It may be necessary to change the lens complete with some of the more basic welders masks. Alternatively, you may be able to make a quick manual adjustment so that you can spend less time making the necessary alterations.

Automatic Welders Masks

Auto darkening or auto shade controls negate the need to manually alter the shade of the lens. This means that you do not have to change the setting or the lens manually and this can provide greater safety because there’s no danger of forgetting or getting it wrong, and it can also reduce the need to stop working so you can complete the same job quicker. However, these automated features do come at a cost, and that cost is a financial one because automatic welders masks cost more than manual ones.

Spares And Replacements

If you do use a welders helmet regularly then you should consider buying spare parts and if you have an existing helmet that has broken or become damaged then you would also benefit from buying replacements. This means you won’t need to pay for a new helmet but you can still continue using one.

Welders Masks

Welders’ helmets are an important piece of welding kit. They offer safety to the user, and some of the more advanced helmets do not require any type of manual changing so you don’t need to worry about changing the lens yourself or adjusting settings.
