Revisit your school day roller skating
|
The art of roller skating is one that many of us have not perfected since we were at school but this fun sport is a great way of keeping fit and should not be overlooked.
Roller skating provides an all over workout for the body and is a complete aerobic programme. It will work all the muscles of the body rather than just the legs. This is due to the need for you to engage your core muscles to maintain balance. You’ll feel the growing strength in your back and abs as you progress. Roller skating also helps to burn the same amount of calories as when you go out jogging and feels much more fun. Roller skating helps you return to your youth, as well as amusing any younger children you might have – they will love it when their parents or parents friends can go roller skating with them.
Getting started with roller skating require you to buy some good quality roller skates and some protection for your knees and elbows – particularly if you are returning to roller skating after many years. In many parks these days there are areas that have been made to accommodate skate boarders and fans of roller skates and rollerblades. It may be a bit daunting at first to hit the park when all the kids are there so pick a time when you know most children will be at school and start to practice. Initially you may want to limit your attempts to rolling back and to near a fence or some other stable fixture that you can grab onto if you start to wobble.
Over time you will start to improve in strength, poise and stamina ad will truly re-embrace this nostalgic sport. At Skates.co.uk we have an extensive range of rollerblades, roller skates and inline skates to choose from. |
