Pursue Abundant Jobs in Fashion to Keep Pace with the Changing Trends

Many creative people leave university looking to get into the Fashion industry, but find that getting that first job is very tough. Fashion design is a very popular career in one of the fastest growing industries in the world. While the glamour and sparkle of a career in fashion is what attracts many students, they quickly learn that it’s not so much glamour, but more hard work and long hours, but can very rewarding. Having your designs recognized and clothes sold all over the world doesn’t come easy and many designers fall by the wayside during the rush to the top.

Fashion design jobs are the starting point. A lot of ideas go into making the dresses and apparels. After these ideas get accepted, the apparel manufacturer requires a lot of manpower at various levels. This is where technical expertise is required in the textile making. A lot of textile engineering graduates are recruited for different job profiles. Since the dress designing and making are dependent on fashion protocols, the dearth of jobs in fashion is incomprehensible.

Employers expect candidates to possess a two or four year degree within textiles, ornamentation and fashion. Degree programs include bachelor’s or associate’s of fine arts or fashion design with business, marketing or fashion merchandising programs. Students can also gain experience through working in retail or tailoring or internships within the fashion industry.

But even with these qualifications, don’t be afraid to take a job which involves answering the phone for a top fashion designer, or doing a bit of filing for a company you have always admired. Many successful fashion designers have started this way and slowly risen to the top after showing passion and dedication. Be prepared to work hard to reach your goals.
