Wall cladding Essentials

Wall cladding is one of the best choices for refurbishing a building that has changed purpose, needs revamping, or otherwise needs some additional support in the walls. No matter what you choose to use it for, there's an external wall cladding material for the end user and their project.

Fixing up buildings

It used to be that fixing up buildings meant matching the old layout or bulldozing through it and rebuilding a layout in the shell that was left, but wall cladding strikes a balance between the two - it can put you in a position where you 'refurbish' the walls, and have additional supports in place, or it can give you a new look and feel to a tired room. Pared with stone floor cladding and modern lighting it's often the lift that tired old spaces need.

External wall cladding is often also a multipurpose product, allowing it to be used to support walls, but also creating an environment where sound is reduced. As is often key in repurposing buildings, most wall cladding also helps buildings attain and exceed 'code/Building Regulations' - and is often designed to ensure that end users can guarantee a period of 'lifetime' for the materials in use.

One of the best materials to use in wall cladding is coated steel - this high impact, textural and colourable product creates a synergy for end users that allow them to choose their materials with confidence.

New builds

Wall cladding in new builds comes from conscious choice rather than necessity, and in most cases, the choice of wall cladding can have a serious impact on the building and its sustainability.

Choosing wall cladding that falls into the highly sustainable, environmentally friendly, yet useable and flexible is a difficult task. Encouraging the end user to choose coated steel will give them access to sustainable materials and make the choices over colour and texture far simpler in the long run, without creating a myriad of further choices. This is an important consideration in projects where time is of the essence, or is eminently suited to coated steel.

Coated steel is also stronger than its aluminium counterpart and can bear loads that traditional structures may not manage, making it the ideal choice for buildings of non-traditional construction, or those with extra load bearing areas.
