If you can't make it, fake it

There are many difficult tasks you face for SEO marketing, but one of the hardest is to build up the popularity of your website. It's a strange circular logic that if your website doesn't look popular to the search engines, you have no chance of making it popular. Unless you're willing to slowly build your site over a number of years, there's not much you can do.
Except one thing. The secret rule of popularity of any kind is that you can make it if you fake it.
It's amazing how easy it is to create the appearance of popularity, even when you don't have it. Online, the appearance of attention can often be faked, such as with comments, contributions and even references to loyal customers.
Why fake it?
Popularity tends to beget even more popularity. For example, if an internet user visits your site and it seems deserted, with no comments in the comments section, no quotes from customers and so on, they may assume there is something wrong with your business. When they visit and see lots of activity, however, they will see a business thriving with life. This tends to be more attractive.
The appearance of popularity isn't the most important thing about your site, of course. Internet users generally go to sites looking for information. Popularity is one of the many aspects you should be looking at for organic search engine optimisation, and when it can be so easily given a boost, it's really worth it.
