Castors have been in common use for decades now. You've used them on things like shopping carts all a long, and most likely thought really nothing of it. Just imagine if you had to shop at the local supermarket using just a basket with no castors on it?
So now perhaps it's a little easier to see why people everywhere are finding new ways to mobilize things in their day to day lives with castors. Air filled castors allow a carer to move their loved one or patient into other areas of a house or even outdoors more freely without the fear of causing damage or discomfort to the person. Without castors this wouldn’t be possible.
You have to keep in mind that the more mobile you are with all that you need for care taking, not only is it better for the person you're caring for, but it's also better for you. It means that you can quickly bring things to where you need them rather than being posted in one area or station. Castors can allow a carer to be more self sufficient without the need for a second person or extra help with moving a patient or loved one.
As an example castors on items that you may not have even considered, like for instance your dining room table and chairs means that if need be you can move them to an area that is more convenient. In the end, the real bottom line is that in dealing with someone who has limited movement, adding mobility to the things around them can be a great solution and make life more comfortable.
