Tips on How to Handle a Successful and Profitable Banner Marketing Campaign

You know, it's funny because a lot of people totally ignore banner advertising because they "heard" it doesn't work - it does, we know. Here's the thing... there is no end to the possibilties and amount of targeted traffic available with banners in the right places. It almost doesn't matter what your budget is because you keep going until you make money, and then you reinvest back into your banner campaigns. It's possible to reach a large volume of targeted traffic often times much less than you would pay for more popular paid advertising platforms. If you've never done banner advertising before, then the very smart thing to do is study how to approach it. So, with that said, we're going to show you a couple of good pointers so your first banner campaign will be as successful as possible.

Yes, your banners need to convert, and to help ensure that happens you must have a call to action word or statement on every banner. Many new advertisers make the mistake of creating a good ad but end up ignoring the call to action. It's imperative to say: "Click Here, or Go Here Now, or Get More Details Now," etc. Quite often people need to be told what action to take, and it has been proven over and over that a call to action increases converion rates. The rules of copywriting apply here too, even though your ad is mostly made up of graphics. The call to action you use depends on your market and overall theme - but you should test it. Both aspects of a banner, copy and graphics/images have important jobs on your banner.

Of course prior to actually submitting your banner, be sure to check it out and make sure the link works, etc. You don't want your ad to go live with broken links. Whatever the destination URL, just give a quick check to make sure it goes there. It should not be a problem for banners, but still be sure to verify your banner looks the same in the major browser applications. If there are ever any format issues with your images or banner, then naturally you will want to take care of ASAP. Also, you will be buying ad space and ad time, and you don't want to cut into your ad time.

Banner advertising copy is much like regular copywriting, and that means you don't use extraneous words that don't really need to be there. Don't go ahead and try to add everything and the kitchen sink in your ad to make it appealing. Remember with banner copy simple is best because it will be very clear. When your designs and copy are very simple, then there is no need to find someone to outsource to and pay them well. So remember to optimize your banner and images for faster loading times. So don't overdo the graphics because nine times out of ten it will just turn off your audience.

You can find much more information on banner advertising, and we urge you to do so. When you get started with it and apply these and other tips, you'll understand the effectiveness of banner ads and the kind of results they can deliver. The planning and setting up stages of your banner campaigns are extremely important, and please rotate your banners and test.
