Getting personal

When it comes to personalised number plates, there are countless options when choosing what you want on your number plate. Obviously there are some restrictions based on the different formats of number plates throughout the years. There are the older style number plates containing one or two numbers and three letters, the prefix style of number plates containing a letter, one or two numbers and three letters and then there is the current style of number plates with two letters, two numbers and then three letters. The benefit of the older style plates is that you can put numbers before letters; this means that potentially you could have number plates such as “A1 DAD” or “K9 DOG.” However, if you only want something that contains three letters, then any of the styles available to you will suffice.

One potential option for people wanting personalised number plates is to have your name in the number plate. Obviously you’re restricted to three letters but that doesn’t have to be a problem. There are so many names that can be shortened to three letters, anyone called John could be “J0N”, Kevin could be “KEV”, Daniel could be “DAN” and for the girls there’s always “EVE” or “JEN” for Jennifer and “SAM” for Samantha. There are so many names that can be suitably shortened for a number plate, even if you can’t shorten the name you could always choose to go with your initials.

Platinum Plates supply all three different types of number plates. The fact that you can fit three letters on all three different styles on number plates, means that there is plenty of choice at different prices. Having your name on your number plate need not cost an absolute fortune these days, new style plates containing your name can cost as little as £795.
