Email Marketing Strategy: Postcards
|
The Internet may have changed the usual means by which you show our appreciation and concern for others but the means themselves don't change much-in the past we sent out real postcards, today we just send email or webmail postcards. When it comes to Internet marketing, particularly email marketing, the same can be said. The way by which the medium of marketing is sent may have changed, but the medium itself is the same in concept, like email postcards.
You should always take to heart the power of valuing-and showing that you value-your relationships. This is true even and especially for business relationships between you and your clients. And a postcard is just the perfect email marketing solution to affect your appreciation and concern for your valued clients.
But first things first though: always make sure you send out email postcards-and any sort of advertisement through email for that matter-to people who have given their consent and actually want to receive them. Otherwise you're sending spam. Just a quick reminder of a rule of thumb you should already be well aware of. Now that that's out the way, let's take a look at some postcard options you might want templates of in your automated email marketing program.
Postcard Option 1: Seasons Greetings
Postcards are almost a given when seasons like Christmas draw near. So take your pick of seasons greetings to put into your email postcards when the special occasions come. Of course, never forget to include a sales pitch about relevant offers and discounts for the season.
But Christmas isn't the only season befitting postcards, so don't shy away from other occasions and seasons-even football season-to send out postcards, your greetings, and your sales pitches. You can even program their dates into your email marketing software, if it has that handy option.
Postcard Option2: Holidays and Personalized Postcards
If email newsletters are your regular email advertising efforts, then email postcards are your special ones. So aside from special occasions celebrated the world over, try personalizing it a bit and try sending out birthday postcards to your clients if you had them enter their date of birth when they signed up or subscribed to the email service. This personal feel that is mostly lacking in most online relationships today-especially professional online relationships-can be the key to further prolonging your relationship with your existing clients.
Of course personal special occasions warrant special offers and promotionals. You can send out a free gift certificate with your postcard, or a free trial of a service or product they haven't tried yet. This means your postcard email has become the perfect combination of an advertising means set within a client appreciation campaign.
Postcard Option 3: Thank You Postcards
And since postcards are meant to show how you value the recipient, then occasional "Thank You" postcards should be in order. You can even send out special customer loyalty and long-time patronage postcards with freebies in them. Oh, and don't forget, never send bulk email postcards of these or any sort-they defeat the purpose of the postcard being reserved for special events. |
