HK Int'l Airport Named World's Best
|
The Airports Council International (ACI) announced Wednesday that Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) has been named the world's best among airports serving more than 40 million passengers annually, for the fifth year in a row.
The award based on ACI's airport service quality survey, accrediting the commitment of airports across the world to excel in performance.
HKIA also ranked third in both the Asia-Pacific region and overall categories, and scored a record high of 4.78 out of 5.00, meaning about 99 percent of survey respondents rated HKIA as excellent or very good in the airport service quality survey of 2010.
Key areas that were particularly viewed as commendable by passengers included availability and cleanliness of washrooms, level of comfort of waiting areas, ambiance of the airport, feeling of being safe and secure and customs inspection.
Stanley Hui Hon-chung, Chief Executive Officer of Airport Authority Hong Kong (AA), pledged that the airport will continue investing and improving its facilities and services to provide an even more enjoyable airport experience to passengers and other airport users.
Passengers from 140 airports participating in the full-year survey were interviewed over a series of parameters including general ambiance, cleanliness, check-in efficiency, staff courtesy, comfortable waiting area and more. The awards count the survey cumulative results of the four quarters in the year.
