the fruit basket. Many of these have the fruits cut into the shapes of
flowers so they appear as a bouquet. Filled with melons and grapes,
strawberries and kiwi and a variety of other fruits, these are quickly

The best way to create affordable gift baskets is to pick the items
yourself and then hand deliver them. A unique idea is to shop locally
from local growers and crafters. Your local farmer’s market is the
perfect place to find items to fill your basket. Local cheeses and
breads along with sausage and pickled items make the perfect filler
for such a gift. Craft items such as handmade beeswax candles along
with handmade soaps also make fine filling. These items can be
rounded out with fresh or dried flowers from a local grower. If you
are giving a gourmet style basket, then you can toss in a bottle or
two of a local wine or handcrafted beer. These choices work well if
you are going the cheese and bread route. Perhaps a small handmade
cutting board from a local wood worker can be added as well, along
with a small knife from your local metalsmith. No matter what you
