Private investigators for employers

Private investigators may be employed for a wide variety of reasons. They are widely thought of as being employed to trace missing persons or in divorce cases but there are many other possibilities. Employers use the services of private investigators for many reasons in order to cut monetary losses, reduce absence and by keeping matters private, are able to have more control over the outcome of an incidence.

A private investigator may be hired by an employer to investigate an employee who is absent from work on long term sick leave. If there is suspicion that the employee is not genuinely ill, which costs the employer money, then they can follow them outside work and capture evidence that the employee is actually fit for work.

Private investigators are often employed to check computer records such as deleted emails and review internet searches. This can be used to find out how much time is being wasted on private emails and surfing the net when a person should be working. There have also been instances where a business has been ruined using employers’ time and resources which is of course not permitted.

Drug misuse is another reason to employ the services of a detective agency. Drugs in the workplace are not permitted and can cause serious harm to the drug user and people around them. A detective agency may be employed as an undercover worker who will be able to find out who is using drugs and who the supplier is. This information would then be passed on to the police.

Here at Global Investigations we take all investigations seriously and if employed in sensitive cases such as for an employer, we always act within the terms of the Data Protection Act which is designed to protect a person’s right to privacy. However, an employer has a right to protect their business and that is where we can help.
