Arab League Chief Hails Egyptian Revolution

Arab League Secretary General Amr Moussa hailed Friday the "bloodless revolution" in Egypt after President Hosni Mubarak stepped down in response to more than two weeks of protests against his 30-year rule, according to Egypt's official news agency MENA.
Moussa, former Egyptian foreign minister, told the Egyptian state TV that he would resign from the position as chief of the pan-Arab organization within weeks because he has new plans.
He denied that he would run for the presidential elections in Egypt, saying "as an Egyptian, I have the honor to serve my country in any post and it is time to help in forming a consensus of opinions."
The window is open now for a national consensus in the coming period after the white revolution and the president's concession, he told Arabiya TV in another interview.
Mubarak's resignation came only one day after he announced that he was handing over powers to the vice president, a step that is celebrated by hundreds of thousands of protesters in the country.
