The Fastest Growing Sports

In the UK, one of the fastest growing sports is Cheerleading, however in places such as America this has been a huge pastime for many for many, many years. In return, we have given them rugby which is currently one of America's fastest growing sports. Across the world though, MMA, or Mixed Martial Arts, such as cage fighting, is generally considered to be the sport which is growing the fastest. It is quickly growing from humble beginnings to outrank wrestling and even boxing in many parts of the world as the sport of choice to both watch and take part in.

Whilst many of the fastest growing sports in the world are fairly recent additions, there are many that have been around for a lot longer and already had huge amounts of recognition at one point only to fade for a while into obscurity.

One such sport is racing BMX bikes. BMX racing, as well as the more extreme stunt BMX riding, seemed to have its heyday in the 80s but today it seems to be more popular than ever and is practiced by people of all ages. Whether it is for stunts or racing BMX, the amount of participants in this growing sport are now far outweighing its supposed glory days.

The thing we seem to see in common with the fastest growing sports is that they are not only fast at growing but also sports that are generally fast paced. Extreme sports are more popular than ever both with participants and spectators, and the trend only seems to be increasing. As our lives move at a faster pace, we seem to be reflecting this with the sports we are choosing to watch and take part in, and it looks like the trend may well continue for a long time to come.

It seems, with sports, we now want to push ourselves to the limits, so if you're looking for the next big sport to get involved in, look to something extreme.
