Does Cognitive Substance Abuse Treatment Really Benefit Drug Abusers Who Quit?

There has been a new method to help treat substance abuse and it is the cognitive substance abuse treatment that maps out the mind reactions of a drug addict's brain and actual causes that stimulates him or her to like drugs. It is rather obvious why substance abusers fall prey to what they did. They were going for the inevitable euphoria that is obtained when they smoke the particular drug which gives them that effect. When using cognitive substance abuse treatment, scientists seek to locate the brain's common responses when it is subjected though a series of altered states therefore quantifiable data can be derived and the right remedies can be dispensed that powerfully works to solve the root causes of drug craving.

While undergoing the cognitive substance abuse treatment, the doctors involved must be resolute in making notes on how the patient responds to the treatment. Doctors are aware that there will be many physical and emotional responses from the patients minutes before ingesting or smoking of the toxic substance of their choice. The results and findings on the drug addict's after drug conditions are also vital information that needs to be studied as well.

A percentage of drug abusers were actually born with a natural instinct to enjoy drugs! It sounds ridiculous but it's true! Some people who have a frontal cortex that is kind of abnormal in a small way might be unable to control their urge to abuse drugs. It will be up to the doctor's creativity to work some viable solutions after documenting the whole observation of the patient's bodily states.

A person's frontal cortex will be heavily stimulated prior to drug taking. Doctors seek ways to keep the frontal cortex surpressed so the habit of substance abuse will vanish. It's a solution which people can only hope for decades ago. That is good news as the chances of a relapse is going to be minimal and patients will have less issue of being tempted.

There is not one physician out there who will tell you substance abuse treatment is easy because it isn't. The brain, being complex is very difficult to decode when it comes to substance abusive desire. Drug addicts are grouped into different groups based on the type of drugs they ingest. This helps make the data more accurate. Based on their individual groups, their bodily reactions to the drug is then noted and their own feelings for further analysis. Frankly speaking, it is still difficult to cover every medical possibilities all because the brain is a single organ, and trying to segregate sections and pinpointing the parts responsible for drug addiction is really tough. The power of influence exerted by the brain and how drugs affect the actions and emotions of a user is quite a mystery by itself.

The war with drug abuse could prove to be an uphill battle because it involves many complex factors, and sometimes, the researchers miss out very important clues in other treatment methods because they focus too much on cognitive treatment. Unintentionally, many new non cognitive methods of substance abuse treatment are missed out. There are many more factors such as a full body detox and other addiction combating drugs which could even reduce withdrawal symptoms and put and end to relapses.

Sometimes, when all else fails, doctors use fear to aid their cognitive drug abuse treatment. Physicians notice that the association of bad feelings to a negative action of drug abuse is powerful as it would nip the problem at the bud. That can be extremely effective especially on those who haven't tried drugs before as the experience of drug abuse is not etched in the memory of their brain. So, one can be sure that these people will not really have any pleasant thoughts in their mind when drugs are mentioned.
