So, you're out on your first date with this hot single. Certainly you would want to create a great impression and you would want it to be a wonderful experience. Whether or not you would be interested in a second date is another issue altogether, but at least for this one, you definitely do not want to make a complete fool out of yourself.
There are certain things that you do not ever want to happen to yourself if you're out with someone. You need to be careful with how you carry yourself about with this person, because first impressions can be the strongest.
The first thing that would happen is that you'll either be asked out or you're the one who's asking someone out. After you or he/she said yes, keep your cool. Don't persistently remind them about the date, especially if it would be a week from that time. Just call them around a day or two before the actual date to double check if they're still interested. That's it. Obsessing about it would just make you sound desperate. This also applies to what you should not do after the date is over.
Don't forget to plan out your date carefully. Whether you'll simply be out on a drink or go to a posh restaurant, it's always best to over-prepare than to under-prepare. Just make sure that everything will go well by booking in advance or ensuring that the restaurant won't be closed during that time. Irresponsibility is a total turn off.
During the date, single women should never carry a large bag. Opt for a small purse or a clutch. Research shows that women who carry large bags on a first date make the single men think that they've got "a lot of luggage" going on.
Don't talk about your ex, your aunt's skin disease, or your dog's toilet habits during the date. Try cracking jokes to your date, the kind that have proven to effectively make people laugh when you tell them. Of course, disregard the disgusting jokes if you're eating.
Don't ever wear gaudy clothes on the first date. You might think that you want to look sexy with a plunging neckline, but your date might think you're easy and that you're doing this on all your first dates. For single men, don't wear those tacky Hawaiian shirts or sockless leather shoes. Dress appropriately for the venue of the date.
Don't drink too much. You know what will happen. Self explanatory.
Don't be rude. Remember your manners. If you're a guy, open the door for her. Girls shouldn't expect to for the guy to pay. Bring your own cash or credit card, even if he really is the one who'll pay. This will prove your independence.
Don't talk on the phone or text all throughout the date unless it's your dying grandmother. It's just plain rude.
Don't make any indecent proposals or sexual suggestions on the first date. This is supposed to be the time when you still get to know the person. Sex would only blur your visions and the result could be destructive. Unless of course, that's all the two of you ever want out of the date.
Don't dominate the conversation . Ask your date questions and let them elaborate. Talking too much only makes you look like you're trying too hard to make a big impression. |
