For all the properties of known of the Chinese Zodiac Tiger, courage and big heartedness would probably be at the top of the list. Also they are known for their imaginative thinking and originality when doing things alongside their love for adventure. Most are known and have a name for themselves in terms of humanitarian works and inspire also others to do the same. Unfortunately they also have a negative side in which they can become egotistical, over possessive and vengeful.
Volatility and edginess are the traits of the Tiger of the years 1950 and 2010, especially if they do not get what they want or desire. Probably the most unorthodox of the group, these Metal influenced personalities do not mind stepping on some toes along the way when going for what they want.

Wood Tigers are the name given to those whose birthdays were on 1914 and 1974, where the wood element is predominant. They make natural politicians and have plenty of friends to go around. They however have a bad habit of replacing friends very fast as soon as they no longer find use for them.
For those with their birthdates in 1926 and 1986, their lives and personality will have plenty of theatrics due to the predominance of the Fire Element. They pounce from one stage of life to the other with full life and vivacity. As such they are the life of the party on many occasions.
Responsibility and stability mark the Tigers born in 1938 and 1998. Always level headed and practical due to the influence by the Earth element, they aim steadily for their conceived success level in life. Surprisingly, once they achieve the level they aim for, the usual traits of liberality and unconventionality crop up.

In its most basic form, it simply takes the year of birth of a person and classify them into one of 12 animals namely the Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat, Monkey, Rooster, Dog and Pig. A person's traints and luck is 'read' based on the amimal sign. At a more advanced level the month, day and year of birth is also considered.
