Conversion-Busting Banner Promoting Errors To At all times Avoid
|
There are lots of ways to promote your products or services online, but like anything else you have to get it right. No matter what advertising medium you're using, you'll have to be sure of the basics; same goes with banner advertising. Banner advertising is no different in this regard, and building a strong foundation is essential for success. It's highly recommended that you do that, and refusing to do it is not a good idea unless you like losing money. However, with the right knowledge and tools, you really can make your campaign successful. So we'll quickly move in and discuss three types of banner advertising mistakes we've seen way too many times.
Although there are many banner advertising mistakes that can ruin our conversion rate, one in particular stands out and that is having an ad that is confusing or straight away misleading. Always choose those products, if you're an affiliate, that you know are solid, and you don't have to engage in any wavy-hands marketing over. You know how skeptical and untrusting net surfers are, so why reinforce that with bad advertising. So do whatever you can to connect your ad with your landing page so that the prospect has no problems in reaching your product. Your banner ad does a tiny bit of preselling for you, and you don't want to do anything that will have the reverse effect.
They do not have to be identical designs, but your banner and website/landing page should have some of the same thematic and artistic in common with each other. If your ad doesn't match your landing page then prospects clicking on your ad may think that they've been taken to the wrong page and will simply close it or hit the back button. If you need to, you can look at examples on page one of Google.
Last but not the least; as an advertiser you should be aware of the basic metrics such as the size of your ads. We're sure you don't want to take time out of your day just to check your banner sizes because you don't have it on hand. It's because when you run your banner ads, publishers will want to know clear cut specifications from you in relation to your banner's size, which would be the length, the size and the weight. Keep your banners compliant and expressed in IAB standards, and that will prevent any misunderstandings.
You can have the kind of results you want from banner advertising, but you have to learn how to approach it correctly and use what works with them. Of course your entire marketing funnel needs to be in place before running any banner ads. If you're not seeing anything happen, then maybe something isn't working and you'll be scrambling to fix it.
