Many people don’t make full use out of their fireplace, simply because it is not as appealing as it could be. With central heating, the use of a fire is not essential, and so trying to get excited about building a fire can be hard work when you already feel adequately warm and the fire itself looks mistreated, misused, and in general worn out.
However, nothing compares to the great feeling of warming oneself in front of a fire. Whether you are cuddling up watching a film or just drinking something warm and enjoying the ambience that a fire creates, having a fire is not only about bringing warmth to the house, but also about creating the perfect atmosphere when those cold nights set in.
The other benefit they bring is that they can often save you huge amounts of money on heating bills. Whether you have a wood burner, a coal fire or a gas one the fuel that is used can often work out much cheaper than using the central heating in the long run, especially as often you will be able to source certain materials for your fire for free.
However, to really want to get a fire burning, fireplaces themselves need to be inviting. The right fireplaces such as marble fireplaces are very much worth the investment as you will find that you not only use the fireplace more, but that your entire house is much more comfortable as a result. And if you use it in the right way, you may find that over time the energy savings mean you have actually saved money and got a great looking addition to your room in the process.
