The Royal Wedding To Make Bridezillas Out Of Blushing Brides?
|
The announcement of the royal wedding between Catherine Elizabeth Middleton and Prince William of Wales has caused an understandable stir for many reasons and according to Steve Hewlett, director of In Focus Insurance, it will also heighten a problem that has started to materialise between photographers and brides across the country.
According to research conducted by In Focus, brides are becoming increasingly demanding over the quality of their wedding photography. Typically, it can cost around £2,000 to pay for professional photography for the big day which represents a decent chunk of a wedding budget. It’s understandable that brides and grooms expect the best quality. However, more professional indemnity cases are being pursued by brides who are either unhappy with the way they look on their photos or expect lavish celebrity, or even royal treatment for their money.
"More professional indemnity claims are being made each year because of angry bridezillas. The royal wedding will only serve to heighten the trend with more pressure on brides to look perfect.” Hewlett continued by saying: “We've seen many cases where images are actually of a high quality but the bride just doesn't like how she looks and has refused to pay the photography bill. In some cases, brides have even sued for damages.”
Hewlett suggests that insurance is the way forward. Professional Indemnity insurance covers businesses and professionals against claims that are brought by clients attempting to sue for professional negligence and is just one type of insurance policy that wedding photographers could benefit from.
When a bride is dissatisfied with their photographer one of the necessary steps in fighting any potential lawsuit is to have the quality of the photography verified. Hiring an independent advisor to assess the quality of photography and ensure that it meets certain standards can prove a costly business and insurance will help to cover this.
With the royal wedding just around the corner, the problem of such cases is likely to worsen. Brides will expect more and more and if they aren’t entirely satisfied with the way that they look in their photographs then it is possible that they may decide to try and take legal action.
